What is Ultraformer 3?

Ultraformer HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) is a non-invasive device that can tighten, lift skin, stimulate collagen, remove fat and contour areas on the face, neck and body.  Ultraformer is a widely used device with over 1 million treatments performed worldwide, it is the world’s number 1 choice for ultrasound skin lifting, tightening and contouring.  It is sometimes known as “non-surgical no-needle neck and face lift”.

HIFU Technology Explained

The Ultraformer works by effectively treating three important layers: the superficial dermis, the deeper dermis and the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layer which is responsible for connecting your skin to the muscular structures below. As we age the building blocks of youthful supple skin (collagen, elastin fibres) lose their strength and the SMAS layer loses its supporting ability, resulting in sagging and wrinkled skin.

The ultraformer works by targeting the three important layers with Micro-Focused Ultrasound to stimulate regeneration. The targeted tissues are heated to the specific temperature required to induce ‘thermal injury’ this causes collagen to contract and in months following, production of new stronger collagen.

What can Ultraformer be used for?

Ultraformer works for face lifting, skin tightening, skin tone improvement, pore refinement, and overall laxity improvement. It can also be used for reducing fat to specific areas including the jowls and submental area (double chin).

Can the body be treated with Ultraformer?

Yes the Ultraformer consists of different cartridges, all with different depths of tissue they can target. The décolletage, arms, abdomen, neck, and thigh region can be treated with the body cartridges.

What results can I expect from Ultraformer treatment?

Ultraformer results occur in 2 different phases.

Immediately following the treatment, you will notice an immediate tightening to the areas treated. This is caused by the heat contracting collagen fibres.

3-6 months post procedure- fibroblast cells produce new and stronger collagen resulting in gradual lifting and tightening of the areas treated.

How does Ultraformer compare to other HIFU devices? (Ulthera)

Ultraformer is on the TGA register for both non-surgical skin lifting, and skin tightening. It is also backed by multiple peer review clinical papers. The Ultraformer has 7 interchangeable cartridges that offer 7 different depths of penetration providing the most customised and advanced HIFU treatment available.

  • The Ultraformer has a 2mm slimline cartridge that is perfect to use for the delicate skin around the eye region. This machine enables the operator to safely treat skin close to the eyes.
  • Ultraformer is the only HIFU system with a 6mm cartridge. This cartridge is specifically designed for dissolving fat under the chin and other small areas such as knees and bra bulges
  • The Ultraformer has a 9mm and 13mm cartridge to assist with body contouring. Other HIFU devices only go up to 4.5mm
  • Ultraformer is the most comfortable HIFU system available for patients. The patented elliptic transducers enable high peak power and more efficient energy delivery. The efficient delivery reduces the treatment time for the patient and makes the treatment less painful.

What are the possible side effects?

Most of the time you can return to normal life straight after your Ultraformer treatment. Side effects are uncommon, but can still occur

  • Skin may appear red for a few hours following the treatment.
  • You may experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness for a few days following the treatment.
  • As with any heat-based device there is a slight risk of burning the skin
  • Temporary nerve inflammation may occur which resolves within a few weeks.

How long does each treatment take?

Ultraformer treatments take between 30minutes to 1 hour, depending on which area is being treated.

Is the treatment painful?

A conductive gel is applied to your skin during the treatment. As the handpiece touches your skin, you will feel vibration and slight heating. Slight pain can be experienced around the jawline region, this is temporary, and most clients rate the pain 3-5/10.

Topical anaesthesia is not required for this treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

The amount of treatments required depends on the area being treated, your age, your skin quality and the indication being treated.

Most patients will require at least one treatment, with a repeat treatment required within a 6-12-month period.

Your practitioner can advise you of the appropriate treatment regimen to maximise your individual results during your consultation.

What is the cost of Ultraformer 3 treatment?

The cost of the treatment is dependant on the area being treated and the combination of cartridges required to obtain the best aesthetic outcome.
